It is no secret that many women want to look younger. Make up, when properly applied, can help you achieve that goal. It’s tough though, because make up can also make a woman look older and her skin dryer. Yet, a few easy make up tricks can make a woman look years younger. Some of these tricks, practiced daily, can foster healthy skin too!
1. Foundation Needs an SPF
A good foundation will have a Sun Protection Factor, or SPF. This is because sun damage is a major contributor to premature aging. Luckily, many foundations now come with an SPF to help combat and minimize this damage. The SPF will be clearly printed on the front of the container too, so there is no guesswork to which foundations have sun protection and which do not. The higher the SPF, the younger you’ll look over time.
2. Rewind the Clock
Some foundations have their own anti aging properties, designed to actually reduce and, in some cases, moderately reverse aging. These foundations can, to an extent, soften lines and wrinkles. Of course, no foundation will be comparable to surgical results, but they will improve the look of skin. To find these, speak with a qualified specialist at any make up counter.
3. Leave Layering to Clothes
Layering makeup can make skin look cakey and dried out. Applying foundation and concealer to trouble areas and blending them with the rest of the skin makes the look softer and more youthful. Powder should be dusted on with a brush and not applied with a powder puff or sponge, because a sponge will easily pick up germs and bacteria and transfer them to your skin. Sponges frequently make powder look over applied too. Makeup that is over-applied and over-layered looks more like a mask than beautiful natural skin.
4. Conceal and Treat
While hiding imperfections does work, it is far more beneficial to treat them. Circles under the eyes are a perfect example of a flaw that can be both concealed and treated treated easily. For instance, concealers with under eye circle treatments are readily available, but tea bags over the eyes at night are a fantastic way to treat swollen eyes and dark circles naturally.
5. Wash Up
Washing off your makeup daily allows your skin to breathe. Washing your face in the morning provides a clean surface to apply make up, but also hydrates the skin. Many make up and skin care companies offer different cleansers and toners for different skin types. The right soap and toner can make all the difference to the overall health and appearance of your skin, so don’t be afraid to find a brand you like and start buying loyally. Try out some combinations and never be afraid to ask others (or professionals) what really works.
Moisturizer must be a daily part of any healthy skin routine. There are moisturizers for all types of skin, so you can always get hydrated. Hydrated skin appears younger and healthier and has a radiant glow to it. Hydrated skin also has fewer wrinkles and fine lines. Skin will only look truly healthy if it is properly cared for. Remember that skin has to be made healthy and not just made to look healthy, and that’s where moisturizer comes in!
The idea of using make up for anti aging is not a new one. It has been around for many years. Simple make up tricks, along with a healthy skin routine, can help make this goal a reality. One should not expect surgical results with these tricks, but results achieved at home are often just as noticeable, but more natural!
