In this day and age of endless amounts of makeup products advertised and claimed to be the best of the best, it is hard to know what one needs to actually do with these products to look amazing on a day to day basis. These five tips will help you turn your makeup drawer into a tool for beauty and send your self-confidence sky rocketing.
Number one: Fill in your brows.
It is said that even amongst top models, there is not a single one that does not need to have their brows filled in to look their best. Sparse brows can be a result of too much plucking or simply being born with eye brows that just do not fill correctly. To easily remedy this, fill in any sparse looking spots with a pencil that is just a shade lighter than your brows using strokes that are short and wispy. Next, use a clean mascara wand and gently brush along the brows. With a little practice, this should give your brows the perfect look. You can experiment with using two different shades of pencils, lighter shades where your brows are thickest and darker shades where they are thinnest.
Number two: Perfecting the use of eye shadow.
Eye shadow can be your best friend or worst enemy depending on how you use it. Admittedly it takes quite a lot of practice to perfect the use of eye shadow. There are some simple things you can do to help you on your way to becoming a master at it. First, learn to blend: use three separate colours, a light colour for the base, a highlighter for your crease and a base colour for the lid. Start light and go darker. First apply the base up to the bone of the brow, then apply the medium colour for the lids and finish off with the darkest highlighter. Be sure to know when enough is enough as too much can ruin the whole look. Do not be afraid to spend a little more for good eye shadow. Your eyes will thank you for it.
Number three: Learn to properly apply mascara.
Mascara is a staple for looking your best on a day to day basis. But along with eye shadow, the way it is applied can make or break the look. Start the perfect application of mascara by gently jiggling the wand from right to left at the very base of your lashes. This is to give a bit more down near the base, seeing as how this is what really gives the illusion of length. As you go up further along your lashes, ever so slightly wiggle the brush in order to separate your lashes and give them a fuller look. Finally, close your eye and using a sweeping stroke, brush down the length of your lashes to remove and clumps or excess mascara.
Number four: Using lipstick when it will enhance.
Lipstick may seem like it needs to be used whenever you want to impress or look dressy, but often times it can make you look silly or even a bit like a clown when used with the wrong combination of make-up. Avoid using lipstick when you are heavy on the eye shadow. This rarely does anything but clutter and mask beauty and can give that circus look that no one should strive for. Use lipstick that works with your skin colour. Just because your favourite celebrity looks ravishing in coral, does not mean you will. Stick to what makes your lips look plump and full, using liner as a base before applying and applying the liner just outside the premise of your natural lips.
Number five: Use foundation lightly.
The right foundation can be found easily enough by assessing the condition of your skin and going with the correct type made for such skin. One thing to always keep in mind is that too much is much worse than not enough. Try to use the minimum amount to give your skin that perfect look and no more.
Enhancing your beauty using make up is not difficult but it does take a bit of practice. Do not be afraid to experiment and always remember that they most beautiful thing about makeup is the face that you are putting it on.
