Swimsuit season is fast approaching. Are you ready? Lots of women absolutely dread getting into a bathing suit. Some even avoid the pool or beach all summer long so they can stay covered. If you hate wearing a bathing suit, it’s time to change that. You shouldn’t let a silly thing like that get in your way of really enjoying the summer and getting out there to swim like everyone else. You don’t have to lose all your extra weight, get breast implants, or change your appearance in any other major way to feel great in your swimsuit this summer. Here are some tips to feel great no matter what.
Change Your Attitude
If you’re self-conscious and unhappy in a bathing suit, the only reason you feel that way is because you’re telling yourself to. Because you don’t want to wear a suit, you’re holding yourself back from having fun, relaxing, and enjoying the pool or beach with your friends. Instead of thinking, “I’m not going to the beach because I don’t look good,” tell yourself, “I’m not going to let anything stop me from having a great time and enjoying life.” You only have one life, so live it. Then, feel good about yourself in your bathing suit because you’re making the most out of your summer rather than hiding indoors.
Pick the Right Suit
If you’re wearing a bathing suit that doesn’t fit you properly, you can bet you won’t feel your best in it. No matter what suit you buy, you have to make sure that it fits well. A properly-fitting suit will always make you feel better. Your properly-fitting suit should also be one that best flatters your body. If you don’t feel comfortable showing your stomach, pick a one-piece or tankini. If you have a skinny boy-shape, choose a suit with ruffles. There is a bathing suit out there for every body type, so find yours.
Show Your Personality
You might not feel good in a bathing suit because you don’t feel like yourself. Your bathing suit should match your personality and style just like any piece of clothing you’d purchase would. If you don’t like to call attention to yourself, stay away from bright colors. If you like classic look, stay away from bold patterns. If you’re not a girly girl, don’t buy a teeny tiny bikini. Finally, accessorize! Wear some earrings, bracelets, sunglasses, sandals, or hair accessories, or carry a beach bag that you love. Great statement pieces are a way to draw attention elsewhere if you’re still unsure of your suit.
Do What You Can
If you’re still dissatisfied with your bathing suit body, do what you can. For example, drink a lot of water and stay away from gassy foods from the day before your beach trip so you aren’t bloated. Use sunless self-tanner to give your pale skin a healthy glow. Wear makeup to the beach if it makes you feel better. Little things like this can boost your confidence, but most of all do what you can to actually BE confident. This is hard, yes, but here is a saying you need to remember: fake it until you make it!
