Roxi: “We all have a ‘friend’, well not exactly a friend, but an aquaitance, who looks awesome in pictures and in reality, their looks are not even close. I don’t want to be rude by saying this, but the difference between their face with makeup and their face without, shouldn’t be as drastic as it is in some cases. I mean, some girls don’t look the same with makeup on, it’s like they’ve changed to a whole new person.
Catalina: “I have a friend that really likes make-up and puts a lot on every day. Although there is a big difference between the way she looks with makeup and her fresh out of bed look, she is beautiful both ways.
Roxi: “If you wear makeup, how much is too much? Where is the line between enhancing yourself and completely transformimg yourself? A moral question should be asked here; if you are unattrative by today’s standards (face it, if your mom is the only one to think you are beautiful, you are pretty unatractive) so… if you’re not as attractive as others in your circle, and you want to improve that, regardless of all of our talents, you decide to put on a mask through makeup. Do you really become fake?”
Mihaela: “Everybody knows someone who is obsessed with make-up or at least addicted to it, but this doesn’t mean that they are fake or not beautiful enough.”
Me: “ I agree with you in principal that makeup does wonders. Have you ever seen RuPaul’s Drag Race… Well you do see HUGE transformations with the makeup these guys (er… gals) wear. And yes, it is a persona they put on.”
Catalina: “I woudn’t say my friend is that fake, she just has a real passion for eyeshadow and mascara.”
Me: “No harm here but, some women over do the makeup. They wear too much foundation or the foundation is in the wrong shade, their eyebrows created by the eyebrow pencil and not by GOD, their lips that they percieved to be too thin are made bigger with the trick of the lip liner and the lipstick and yes, there are many, many more tricks to mask our perceived inperfections. Do you believe that this behavior also hides their character?”
Mihaela: “Unfortunately, there are cases when girls can’t make a difference between a natural face and a “fake” one, so yeah I think they hide their true character as well.”
Roxi: “I’m not sure what I think about these people…I’d say it’s quite admirable to try your best to be pretty for yourself and for others, but on the other hand, what if you turn into a total fake?”
Me: “ Unfortunately, we all wear masks from time to time, but these are the masks of personality, not makeup. But then it all boils down to Self Esteem and Self Love. The trick is to love yourself enough to accept yourself, just the way God made you. And, the question then becomes, do we really need makeup to be ourselves?”
Roxi: I guess women in general are all made up of all the masks we put on, for others or for ourselves…it’s natural, so we better make them as pretty as we can.
